THE Russians are coming - but they're asking for permission.
The Russian nuclear-powered vessel the Pyotr Veliky (Peter the Great) is due to visit Cape Town from January 9 to 15.
As it's a nuclear ship, it has to get special permission to anchor at an SA port.
The SA Navy, on behalf of the Russian Federation, has applied for permission for the ship to visit Cape Town in terms of the National Nuclear Regulator Act. Notice of this application was advertised this month.
Any objections must be sent to the National Nuclear |Regulator.
It's not clear from the advert if the ship will dock in the harbour or anchor in the bay |outside. …
